Hi Beaker and Derrick,

Many thanks for the detailed information, it is very valuable for me to
try ext2 approach.

Last two things. I see that in NetBSD ext2 filesystem can be used
directly or in user space with FUSE. What do you recommend?

Second, if it matters, should I create ext2 filesystem from NetBSD with
/sbin/newfs_ext2fs, with /usr/pkg/sbin/mkfs.ext2, or from Linux?

Sorry for the late response; I think I setup the ext2 Commons partition on
Debian first then worked on the NetBSD mount. Perhaps it would have been
better to create it on NetBSD but so far it hasn't been much of an issue
outside of the forementioned rsync thing.

Thanks Beaker for replay.
Ok, no problem. Let's see what happens in the future.

As also mentioned, mine is a lightly used system so perhaps insabilities
would appear under heavier loads. Absolutely would recommend creating a
test platform which mimics your intended use, especially if important files
are involved. Ultimately you would probably be better off with a NAS setup
or shared "cloud" storage, the latter fairly inexpensive these days.

I also will do frequent backups. I personaly dislike all kind of "cloud" storage. I prefer having everything under my hands.

Regards.
Ramiro.
