Question about xhci(4) and ports with extra power functionality?
Hello. I have a Dell Optiplex 5050 running NetBSD-10.99.12/amd64 with a patched version
of xhci.c-1.192.
The xhci chip probes as follows:
xhci0 at pci0 dev 20 function 0: vendor 8086 product a2af (rev. 0x00)
xhci0: 64-bit DMA
xhci0: interrupting at msi0 vec 0
xhci0: xHCI version 1.0
usb0 at xhci0: USB revision 3.0
usb1 at xhci0: USB revision 2.0
the font panel has 4 USB ports, two of which are supposed to provide extra power for
charging external devices. If I plug a power using device, such as my iPhone, into one of
these ports, it gets power, but the system hangs hard and I need to power cycle the machine to
restore operations.
In looking through the xhci.c sources, it looks like we may be flagging an over current
condition when these ports are energized. With the hard hang happening, it's hard to determine
what, exactly, is going on. Has anyone else used these ports with this particular revision of
the xhci chip along with the xhci(4) driver?
-thanks
-Brian
