I've been using Raspberry Pi 4 with Debian for a number of years now.
Mainly for web browsing, file storage, development and other tasks. It
has been very reliable. There is no ECC memory but a lot of x86-64
laptops and desktops also do not support it. However, you can build NAS
server with any hardware you like. Just avoid using non-native file
systems like FAT or NTFS to share data between different OSes. They
work OK with large files (photos and movies), but I've seen issues with
many small files.
