Older releases sometimes required kernel patches due to slight differences between the Indy and Challenge S hardware but I'm pleased to report that 10.1 worked first time. Once installed, I downloaded the source sets and built a kernel with the R5000 cache patch that was posted here last month. I then moved the disk into my other Challenge S, this one with a R5000/180, and that also worked with the patched kernel.

Great news. Last time I attempted to update NetBSD on my Challenge S, after getting through installation, the main problem was a lack of binary package availability. Have there been any developments on that front? I wondered about the possibility of running 64-bit MIPS packages, which seemed to be the only thing available last time I checked.

Thanks,
Tim
